The Advantages of STA Travel
Posted on December 9, 2009 by Patrick Evans - Marketing Communications Coordinator
Comment on this PostWe all know there are more than a few travel Web sites out there capable of booking your ticket home for the holidays or your prefect Spring Break adventure. You’ll find the same mix of airlines on most of these sites. You may even find many of the same hotels. So how is STA Travel different?
1. STA Exclusive Tickets – Our discounted STA Exclusive tickets for students and travelers under 26 are simply the best value you can get anywhere on an airline ticket. Not only do you often get a cheaper rate than what you’ll find anywhere else, STA Exclusive tickets have a change fee of only $50!
So let’s say that group project in advanced Portuguese runs a little long and you have to stay on campus a day longer than planned or your boss asks you to work an extra day and you have to delay your trip home. With an ordinary airline ticket, you’re out $250 to be able to change your ticket. With an STA Exclusive ticket, the change fee is just $50.
That’s some serious cash.
2. Options – STA Travel provides travelers with options. Wan to stay in a camping village in Rome? We got that. Want a hostel? We’ve got that too. Hotel? So you like a little luxury? Don’t worry, we’ve got you covered.
From a variety of accommodations options that fit every traveler’s budget to tours that range from hiking mountains to relaxing on the beach, the product selection at STA Travel is unmatched. Seriously – try to find something we don’t have. If you do, we’ll find a way to get it for you if it’s available.

No, we’re not kidding. We really want to save the useful travel tool that is the fanny pack. Utilitarian in nature, the fanny pack is a favorite of Hulk Hogan, Chuck Norris, some lady who uses it to carry her small dog, and fashionistas everywhere.
From the jungles of South America to the fashionable streets of Paris, carry your ballistic nylon pack capable of holding untold travel goodies wherever you go.
Follow the campaign at statravel.com/savefannypacks and on Twitter with the hash tag #savefannypacks. We’ll be giving away exclusive We’re Bringin Fanny Pack t-shirts all week long.
Things to Buy Before Graduating College
Posted on September 2, 2009 by David Goodlin - Online Marketing Coordinator
Comment on this PostWhen I was in school, I remember there being discounts for students at every local restaurant, movie theater, bar, etc. Sure, these discounts are great to help you save a bit here and there, but what about those major purchases?
Check out my list of things you should buy before you are no longer a student:
Software: Several companies, including Adobe, Microsoft & Apple, give hefty discounts to students for all different types of software. Once you are no longer a student, those prices sky rocket. This is definitely something you want to take advantage of.
Apple Computers: Along with software, Apple offers exclusive deals for students on their hardware. See here >
Cars: Several car companies offer discounts to students when you purchase a new car. I know that it is more likely that you will by buying Ramen rather than a car while in school, but if you are so lucky to buy a car, make sure you research the discounts
available to you.
Travel: Obviously, I encourage you to travel while you still have your student status. We offer discounts to youth, but some deals are given exclusively to students.
ISIC Cards: In order to obtain your student status worldwide, grab one of these. It’s the only internationally recognized student I.D. card, and it comes packed full of discounts.
Hope this helps you keep some extra cash around to have fun with.
Best Free Music Sites

Comment on this PostI love my tunes. Short aimless drives, 16-hour road trips, or just hangin at the casa… I gota have my tunes. You know what makes music even better? Free music.
Check out my favorite places to grab free tuneage >>
1) Hype Machine – this place is a great site to get remixes of all your faves. Feelin’ a dance party? Feel up HypeM.
2) Grooveshark – my full album source. The Gshark claims to have every song in the world. They don’t, but they have so many I’m totally okay with the fib. It’s very easy to find the band, album, song, etc. that you are looking for. Even better, you don’t have to sign in/up to make a play list.
3) Pandora – oldie but goodie. You know you like Saves the Day, but did you know you also like ____ & _____. This is what Pandora is good for. It may not have the newest albums, but it will point you in the right direction when you’re on an, “I need a new band to listen to” kick.
4) Spinner – another fantastic entire album source. It makes controlling the music player very easy by sticking the controls at the bottom of the window. They offer free downloads of the day, and free downloads are tasty treats.
5) Purevolume – un-signed underground goodness. This is a good place to find new emerging bands. Most bands have songs from all of their albums, some of which unreleased. Oh, 1 more thing: The artist pages don’t have 450,000 flash & java applications running so it doesn’t take 3 years to load like other sites that start with m and end in space.
6) Lastfm – a good place to find free music. I’m not the biggest fan of the site design, so I don’t use this as often as some of the others.
7) iMeem – continual music hopping from user to user. This site ties users play lists together. It’s pretty cool when you’re looking for new bands, but can be a bit annoying when you want to listen to just one band.
