Work in Australia

Work in Australia? Is that an oxymoron? How in the world can someone consider working as a surfing instructor, working in the outback on a dude ranch or bartending in Sydney a job?
Think about it. With Australia’s new Work and Holiday Visa, you can spend up to a year traveling and working in Australia doing all sorts of cool jobs to keep a little money in your pocket while you enjoy the famous Australian weather, locals and sights.
Here are a few specifics on just some of the jobs you can count as your 9-to-5 in Oz:
- Be a Ranch Hand in Australia – You’ve seen the movie Australia, right? While we can’t guarantee that Nicole Kidman will be waiting for you, STA Travel can make sure that you have a job waiting for you when you get to the Outback.
- Be a Bartender in Sydney – What better way to make new friends than being the one handing out the alcohol?
- Be a Surfing Instructor in Sydney – There is no better place to learn how to become a surf instructor than at Bondi Beach in Oz.
Here’s how it works:
- You’ve got to have a passport from an eligible country, of which the United States is one
- You must be 18-to-30-years-old
- You must not have entered Australia on a Work and Holiday Visa before
Cake, right?
Once you’re approved for your Visa, you’re set and all you have to do is find a job and get yourself down under.
Keep in mind that the Work and Holiday Visa allows you to study for up to four months and hold a single job for six months – so if you plan to stay a full year, make sure you have a second job lined-up or make plans to study or just take an extended vacation.
So what are you waiting for? Come out and play in Australia. Get the details on how to get a Work and Holiday Visa.
