Just a few minutes ago, we released the findings of our latest survey of young travelers.

Some of the highlights:

Young Travelers Visiting the Taj

Young Travelers Visiting the Taj

  • 92 percent of respondents are still planning to travel in 2009
  • 37 percent are planning two trips, 34 percent planning three or more trips
  • 68 percent are paying for their own trip

What’s even more interesting is that 30 percent of respondents are planning international trips. With prices so low on international travel, it is especially exciting to see that young people are really taking advantage of the great opportunities to travel right now.

Among those respondents who gave specific destinations, London, England, and Paris, France, were among the most popular with many destinations in Western Europe holding strong.

Even the traditional road trip is still popular among young travelers – 11 percent of respondents said they would be hitting the open roads at some point in 2009.

When it comes to paying for their trip, young travelers don’t expect their family to foot the bill.

  • 68 percent of respondents said they are paying for their trip with personal cash and savings
  • 10 percent said their family was paying for their travel
  • 10 percent said that their trip was being funded by gifts from family and friends
  • 8 percent said they are taking out loans to pay for their travel
