Top 15 Beach Drinks

Posted on June 15, 2009 by David Goodlin - Online Marketing Coordinator

It’s gettin’ hot as h.e. double hockey sticks out there. It’s time to head to the beach, cool off, and grab a frosty bevi. So many choices, what shall I enjoy.

Check out my Top 15 Summer Beach Drinks:

1) Sex on the Beach – that one was pretty obvious.

  • 1.5 oz vodka
  • 1 oz peach schnapps
  • 2 oz cranberry juice
  • 2 oz orange juice

2) Piña Colada – this one is a favorite among many. I can only get about one down before my stomach starts doing a 540 mctwist.

  • 3 oz light rum
  • dash of coconut cream
  • handful ofcrushed pineapple
  • 2 cups of crushed ice

3) Sangria – a Spanish red-wine punch. You can make your own, but I think most people drink this for the convenience of buying a jug of it at the liquor store.

4) Surfer on Acid – I’ve only seen this as a shooter, but just multiply everything a bunch and you’ve got a glass full.

  • 1\2 oz Jagermeister
  • 1\2 oz coconut rum
  • 1\2 oz pineapple juice

5) Summer Brew – when you read these ingredients you’ll probably think to yourself, “That sounds horrible.” Put this concoction to your lips and you’ll change your mind.

  • 1 can frozen limeade
  • Same can above filled with vodka (after you dump out the limeade of course)
  • 4 beers (Corona, Blue Moon, Keystone, something light)

6) Margaritas – There are a billion kinds of these bad boys. Lets go platinum grand:

  • 3 oz margarita mix
  • 1.5 oz Cuervo 1800 tequila
  • .25 oz Grand Marnier
  • .25 oz Cointreau
  • .25 oz triple sec
  • .25 oz Irish Mist herbal liqueur
  • .25 oz fresh lime juice
  • ice – cubeage amount up to you

7) I’ll go ahead and throw in my personal beach bevi choice here: Cold beer. Pacifico, Corona, Modelo, typically anything Mexican on the beach will do.

8) Rum Punch – the name says it all.

  • 2 liters Tahitian Treat soda
  • 1 liter dark rum
  • 1 – 12 oz frozen orange-pine concentrate
  • 1 cup coconut rum

9) Mai Tai – big straw. Get a big straw.

  • 1 oz light rum
  • 1/2 oz crème de almond
  • ½ oz triple sec
  • ½ oz dark rum
  • equal parts pineapple juice and sweet and sour

10) Blue Hawaiian – these are good. For some reason blue drinks always seem more appetizing to me. Go figure.

  • 1 oz light rum
  • 1 cherry
  • 2 oz pineapple juice
  • 1 oz Blue Curacao
  • 1 oz cream of coconut
  • a pineapple slice (if you’re fancy, I guess that goes for the cherry too)

11) Hurricane – I’ve heard they sell these at drive-throughs in Louisiana. It’s not considered open container… because they tape down the straw. Lol.

  • 1 oz vodka
  • dash grenadine
  • 1 oz giri
  • 1 oz light rum
  • 1\2 oz Bacardi 151 rum
  • 1 oz amaretto almond liqueur
  • 1 oz triple sec
  • equal parts grapefruit and pineapple juice

12) Mojito – I can’t drink mint drinks, but a lot of people like ‘em. Although, that gum that tastes nothing like a Mojito is pretty good.

  • 1.25 oz Captain Morgan spiced rum
  • 12 mint leaves
  • 1 tbsp sugar
  • 1\2 oz lime juice
  • 2 oz soda water

Now I’m no doctor, but some seem to think the cure for a vacation hangover is… yep, another drink. Here are 3 hangover helpers.

13) Toasted Almond – it’s like coffee, but not.

  • 2 oz amaretto
  • 2 oz Kahlua coffee
  • 2 oz light cream

14) Tequila Sunrise – literally.

  • 2 oz tequila
  • dash or two of grenadine
  • fill the rest of the glass with OJ

15) Mimosa –  get after that Vitamin C.  (You get to figure out the amounts of each on this one.)

  • Champagne
  • Orange Juice
