When deciding where you want to rest your head after a long day of taking in the sights, do you want to trust what the so-called “experts” recommend in their fancy guide books or do you want to book what the real experts – travelers just like you – are booking?

We figured you guys would prefer the latter, so we decided that the most beneficial list we could offer to our readers was one voted on by our customers with their own dollars.

The Generator Hostel in London

The Generator Hostel in London

This list of the top 10 hostels in Europe was created based on bookings by our customers. 1. Lisbon Lounge in Lisbon is absolutely amazing! Central location, cool vibe, has parties and gigs but generally very chilled out. Great breakfast and you can have delicious dinners there cooked by the chef for a cheap price. Have had it highly recommended by many people.

  7. I stayed in the Two Ducks Hostel last summer while in Rome, and it was possibly the worst two nights of my travels. The guy in charge was creepy. There were bed bugs everywhere! The key the guy gave me for the door didn’t work, and the guy acted like I was an idiot when I told him about it, even though I even had other people try their luck with getting the key to open the door. The guy also separated our group without letting us know that two of us (two girls) would be in a completely separate building about five minutes away. The “free breakfast” was crackers and jam. There was no running water the day we checked out. There was more, but I hope by now, you’ve already grasped that this place is not a great hostel. How it made this list is beyond me.

  9. The Generator in London is awesome! Stayed there a few times through out my travels. They have an awesome bar with drinks for £1.25! Cheapest drinks in London! You can pick different room sizes if you aren’t comfortable with having 12 people per room and the shared bathroom facilities are nicer than a lot of other hostels I have seen.

Also stays at one of the Wombats Hostels in Vienna. Very, very nice. we had 4 people per room with out own bathroom which was very nice and clean. The room was a decent size and there was an amazing bar downstairs too.
