The Most Expensive Beers in the World

Alcohol. It’s been the host of my typing parties lately. Why not make this a trifectabeast? Fo shee.
When you’ve finally had enough Natty, Stones & Peabers… you may consider stepping your game up. If you’re feelin’ baler stylee coming on, splurge for some of these:
The most expensive beers you can buy:
1) Nantucket Whale’s Tale Pale Ale – $45/case of 24 – $2 a beer, that really isn’t that bad…
2) Tutankhamen Brew – $525/bottle – considering this recipe took about 3000 years to find, it just may worth every penny.
3) Samuel Adams/Boston Beer Company’s Utopias – $100/bottle – if you like strong, overpriced beer, then pop one of these bad mamerjammers open.
4) Carlsberg Vintage No. 1 – $400/bottle – only 600 bottles of this juice was made. That’s all.
5) Vielle Bon Secours – $1000/bottle – at $78 a pint, it’s still outrageous for a beer.
Now that we have discussed beers that you will probably never purchase, let’s head back into the barn and see what some STA peeps are sippin’ on:
1) ZiegenBock Amber – this “only sold in Texas” beer is pretty popular around here. At less than $6 a sixer & only 99 cents a pint at the local hole, it’s hard to say no.
2) Chimay Première – imported from the great beer brewers of Belgium, this one is top notch. Although it costs upwards of $13 for a 750ml bottle, it’s definitely worth it… especially when you’re a tiny infant woman. (non-offensive inside joke)
3) Sapporo – Why? “because it’s Japanese beer.” – thanks Josh
4) Anchor Steam – “because it’s from San Francisco” – we will now be moving on from Josh
5) Pacifico – “I just can’t get myself away from this one”
6) Shiner Black – another made-in-Texas beer, this one is a bit different. A bit chocolate, a tad coffee, a smidge nutty. It’s like chicken biscuits on a summer afternoon.
7) Boulevard Wheat – unfiltered goodness straight outa Kansas City.
8) Imperial – It’s delicious, but you have to travel to Costa Rica to get it.
These are all delicious, but there are plenty we have not tried. Suggestions?
Cheers

My beer of choice is a more affordable, yet sinfully delicious tasting beer, Leffe: http://www.leffe.com/.

Delirium Tremens is a Belgian pale ale, that you can find at most good liquor stores in the States. It’s a strong pale ale, but what drew me to the (ceramic) bottle was the label, which features pink elephants.
The image and the beer’s name (which is Latin for “trembling madness”, commonly nicknamed “the DTs”), plus the fact that it’s 9% alcohol by volume, can only equal a good time. -
If you are ever in Prague, go to a little Bar/Restaurant called U fleku. It took me 2 evenings to find it (it’s on the street of the same name, not to far from the tower clock but out of the way of busy streets.) But it is SOOO worth it. They make their own beer there, but they don’t bottle it and I’m not sure it even has a name! It’s my favorite beer ever.
Other than that: Oregon’s Rouge Brewery “Dead Guy” or Budwar Budweiser (The ORIGINAL Budweiser!)

Maisels Weiße. Only in Germany, far as I know. Really, though, it’s amazing. Try any of their ‘helles hefe-weizens’ and you won’t be disappointed. Make sure you are hungry, though… these beauties will fill you right up.
