World Traveler Internship: The Winners

Without further ado, the winners of the 2009 World Traveler Internship are……………………………….
Lindsay Clark and Chris Danner.
These two will literally travel the globe this summer to show you guys the world.

Throughout the summer, Chris and Lindsay will be blogging on this Web site to keep you updated on all of their awesome trips around the world. Make sure to subscribe via RSS or bookmark the blog to get the latest on their adventures.
This summer, the World Traveler Interns will hit 15 countries in under three months. Their crazy adventure encompasses:
- Volunteering in Fiji
- Exploring the Outback in Australia
- Checking out the Taj Mahal in India
- A safari in Eastern Africa
- A quick stop in Berlin
- An amazing journey through Scandinavia and Russia
- Treks through Scotland and Ireland
Until they kick-off their journey this summer, take some time to get to know your 2009 World Traveler Interns. You can follow Lindsay on Twitter and check out her blog. (We’ll work on getting Chris in the blogging habit in the meantime.)
We also want to congratulate our two runner-ups:
- Kelly Doyle-Mace will be heading to Barcelona for an 8-week internship courtesy of University of Dreams
- Brandon Widener will be heading on a train tour of Europe

Chris Danner? Really STA? So you’re gonna encourage him for acting like a huge tool…and you really want someone with seemingly no respect for people’s culture to represent you around the world? Watch his video again…it doesn’t make you want to hit him…at least a little bit?
Lindsay Clark seems like she’ll be really good…but no offense Lindsay, I’m still not sure she’s the best.
I think it was pretty clear from watching all the videos that Kelly Doyle-Mace and Daniel Velazquez are the best two for the job. I’d say runner ups should be Lindsay Clark and Brandon Widener. I wouldn’t even put Chris Danner in the top 5.
Chris, clearly you love your self…but aren’t you even a little bit embarressed by how much of a tool you are?
I’m not normally a person who will go on blogs or whatever and trash talk people…but I followed this whole thing, watched all these videos and thought this was a pretty cool competition and then these are the winners? So disappointing…

Wow ! I am among the Kelly fans, and have to say we are excited for her to have a chance to spend the summer in Barcelona. STA, you have Spelled her name wrong twice, once as Mac and now, on one of your web pages it’s Macies. Get it right, she deserves to be recognized properly !

Hi Everyone,
First and foremost, congratulations to Lindsay, Chris, Kelly & Brandon. You guys put together a phenomenal set of videos & you’ve earned your rewards. It’ll be fun keeping tabs on what you’re up to this summer.Secondly, congrats to the rest of the Top 10, the Top 20 & everyone else that put together an application and had the guts to profess their love of travel to the world in a creative way. It was inspiring to see so many unique personalities speak to a passion that we all share. I don’t know about you, but that certainly gives me a little extra motivation to get out there.
Finally, thank you, STA, for organizing such a cool event (and opening it up to the ex-students). Its been a blast.

Congratulations to the winners!!! STA, I would still love to see Melissa Landry do something for you. She was really good and had such a following…it would be a shame not to find something for her to report on…I could just watch her over and over.

Everybody who applied made it one step further than most people in this world, myself included (stupid school got in the way), and for that, you are awesome.

I distinctly remember posting that I quit. That wasn’t a joke. I really can’t do this – I have to go to Medical School. I’m going to be a surgeon. My name is Lindsay Clark and I’m going to operate on people for money. Please, give the prize to the homeless and let them travel around the world, making videos. Chris Danner can’t go either, because he is going to the Truck Driving School. We’re professionals now and can’t bother with this. I quit. Remember?

Aw no, Lindsay Clark! Really STA? She Had to be the most irritating and obnoxious candidate. Im sad to say I wont be watching this years around the world adventure, i couldn’t bear to look at her nor listen to her voice for more than 2 seconds. Good luck to Chris Danner, you’ll have to put up with her and her obvious massive ego for three months!

How did someone who clearly broke the rules of the second video win the internship? I mean unless i’m wrong the rules clearly stated that contestants should “Take the STA Travel judges to a local spot” not multiple. Unless a restaurant and a bar and a race track can be classed as one place???
And just a bit of advice for Lindsay. If being “stuck up a mountain with 5 muslim guys” is such a big deal for you, just wait until you go to India!!!

Dear Kate:
Regardless of what you think of Lindsay’s submission you should at least get your facts straight when trying to criticize someone, India is a country which is predominantly Hindu (80%), with a Muslim population of only 13.4%, slightly higher than that of France (10%) and just lower than Israel and Thailand (both 14%). I believe the country you are thinking of is Pakistan (97%).
Ignorance like this is really incredible, especially on a forum such as this.

I’m also a little confused how these two got picked
Lindsay didn’t fallow the directions for the second video. She did not take the STA travel judges to a local spot. She took the judges and us to multiple spots. I guess directions don’t need to be fallowed.
Chris didn’t even do his first video. From my understanding. If you watch the video, at the end Christ says Executive Producer Bernard Madoff. I thought the point was to show us what kind of video skills the applicant had.

STA Judges …. totally disappointed with your choices … were the contestants not supposed to only review one spot in their town. I do not get it, break the rules and still win the game. Both winners had very good videos, but surely not the best by far.

Both of you have a great summer and those of you with negative comments – so sorry you may not have won – hang in there – give it your best but don’t tear down others on your climb to the top -it gets lonely up there because you pushed them all aside on your climb.

Face it, Chris Danner’s superior self-confidence is a hugely important factor in his worldly charm, and is what allows him to partake in the most exciting and interesting opportunities all over the globe. He can find his way into the vip section of anything, and that what makes for an interesting travel blogger. He is also engaging and entertaining because of his apparent self-approval. I don’t see any downside to a man with confidence.
I look forward to seeing chris’s bomb videos.
